Science And Technology

“Science is a beautiful gift to humanity; I call it organized knowledge.”

Science And Technology

Communication:

For our local industries and businesses to remain competitive at the global marketplace we must adopt new concepts and innovations to doing business. Central to this is to improve access to communication including the internet. Our state is sill littered with old-fashioned V-Sat that power internet cafés. We need state Very Wide Area Networks (VWAN) using modern fiber optic wires for state institutions. Putting our state institutions on one network will enable us create an ‘Intranet’, which in turn will greatly improve internal communications via electronic mail, file sharing, file transfer protocols (FTP) etc. By removing communication bottlenecks, we will drastically reduce the man-hour wasted in physically transporting information from point A to B, which could be achieved by the click on a mouse.

Indigenous Technology:

We will shift emphasis from ‘technology transfer’ from developed economies, to ‘developing indigenous technologies’. We will encourage our local industries to fuel the growth of our economy through the sale of such technologies outside the country. I don’t believe we should be importing say ‘wheel chairs’ from Germany, when our local industries at Orlu and elsewhere can be encouraged to manufacture same locally.

 Technological Research:

Our state institutions will be equipped to initiate and support trendsetting research, and the implementation of exemplary pilot projects in the technology sector. Successful pilots can then be replicated at local government levels.
