“My dad used to have an expression. He’d say, Joey, a job is about a lot more than a paycheck. It’s about your dignity. It’s about respect. It’s about being able to look your kid in the eye and say, honey, it’s going to be okay.”

STRENGTHENING AND GROWING THE MIDDLE CLASS

Joe Biden believes the middle class has not only been the economic engine of America, but it’s also been the glue that has held the social fabric of this nation together. He’s fought his whole career to give people in communities like the ones he and Dr. Biden grew up in a fair shot at achieving their dreams. And he knows that if you give ordinary Americans an even chance, they will do extraordinary things.

The Biden Foundation will build on his work to explore, through educational programming, public policy and analysis, how to create once again a vibrant and growing middle class in America. It will explore the question of how we can restore the bargain we used to have in this country: that if you participated in the success of a business, you got to share in the profit. The Foundation will explore and promote discussion of the ways that our business community can reward workers as well as shareholders, to create and protect good-paying jobs and to educate and train the American workforce for the jobs of the 21st Century.
